d. Synergistic Activities
Professional Service: District IV Director, Board of Directors, American Chemical Society (2014-2019); heavily involved in national ACS Governance activities since 2003, and use it as a platform to promote the integration of research and education in our profession.
Education: Chair/Founder, Academic Leadership Training (ALT) Workshop (2016-present). This yearly workshop has served over 120 mid-career professors from PUI and RI colleges and universities to accelerate their entry and success as department chairs, deans, provosts and center directors.
Scientific Advisement: Member, Sloan Minority PhD Advisory Committee, Sloan Foundation (2013-present) Through this and other roles, I have advised Foundations and Universities to better serve a broad cohort of students towards STEM careers.
Promoting Diversity: Chair/Founder, National Diversity Equity Workshops (2011-2019). Through five workshops in addition to published articles and presentations, I have engaged chemistry departments and their leadership in identifying and rectifying barriers to diversity equity within their professional cultures.
Broad Dissemination: Blogging on EveryWhereChemistry.blogspot.com since April 23, 2013, presently with over 140,000 page views. Through my posts abd tweets, I have provided general public descriptions of my articles, advice on how to be as scientists, advocated for science, and other topics relevant to my synergistic activities.
